IGO Organisational Health Maintenance Programme

Many organisations employ occupational health departments to respond to the health needs of members of staff, particularly those concerning stress. They provide advice and support especially to those on long-term sickness absence. While occupational health may provide training regarding prevention, there is no ongoing support, for those experiencing mental discomfort.

Aims and Purpose

The aims and purpose of this Programme is to provide front line, early, support, with the purpose of preventing long-term sickness. To analyse the work environment and individual environment, to identify causation factors, at an early stage of the development of mental health. To provide diagnostic processes that will enable early responses. Ultimately, to significantly reduce long-term sickness absence. To reduce direct costs for long-term absence; and short/long cover for absent staff.
